Harbor architecture

Architects Willem Jan Neutelings and Michiel Riedijk have recently completed the new building for the College of Shipping and Transport, a training centre for shipping in Rotterdam. It forms an abstract representation of an inland canal boat whose bridge is raised so that the skipper enjoys an unobstructed view over the containers. The façade is clad in panels of glass and aluminium coffers in blue and grey in reference to containers and the port.

There’s another projects by Neutelings Riedijk Architecten i’d have loved to see: the Concert Hall to be built in Bruges. Unfortunately the project did not win the competition.
