Lego, the Type Designer’s Friend

Art designer Mark Simonson is working on the revival of some of Phil Martin’s display typefaces from the 1970s and is a Lego® fan, so he used the Legos to hold up the feed and take-up spools on the side of the type.

He made “towers” on either side of the scanner to support the film spools. Lego gear pieces hold the pools on axles and cranks fashioned out of wheel pieces allow the film to be moved back and forth.
