Who needs a man? Get enon

Fujitsu is to start selling a new service robot called enon (which stands for “exciting nova on network.”)

The multi-task robot could give you a hand for reception duties or to explain exhibits, as it detects when people stand in front of it. Aside from its voice function, through its touch panel LCD monitor enon can also offer information through images.

enon can carry parcels in its torso and deliver them to a designated location. Through network interconnection, you can call for enon to come from a remote location and have goods delivered to a specified designation.

The bot can patrol facilities following a pre-set route, and by using a network it transmits images to a remote surveillance station. It can also respond to your requests through a network, if you want to see specific sites. By referring to a pre-programmed map, enon can autonomously move to a designated location while avoiding obstacles.

LEDs on the eye and mouth area enable enon to have a wide range of facial expressions. The LEDs on the back of its head enable the robot to display its operational state to the rear as well.

Shipping to select customers will start from November 2005.
