Designer Jacob Jensen latest creation is the 11 Stars of Skive – 11 sculptures – one for each traffic roundabout in a City in Northen Jutland (Denmark). The sculptures range from a Sun, a Square and a UFO – each with its own story tied to the sculpture.
The Sun is 6.2 meters tall and constructed with 27.000 pieces of gold foil. The UFO is actually crashed and is meant to display the irony of having the technology to travel in interstellar space and at the every end still miss the target.
The sculptures have to be sustainable and still be attractive 20 years from now explains Jacob Jensen, so each sculpture can be combined into a more complete form or a new shape entirely e.g. the Sun and the Sign sculptures are interlinked so that combined they would form a complete golden sphere.
