School officials taking liberties with a student mobile phone

Suspecting that one of the student was involved in drug dealing, one of Nazareth Area High School officials seized his mobile phone to “check” the voice mail and text messages, then used the student phone list to call other students and ordered them to report to her office.

Now the issue among school officials and the student’s family is where the line should be drawn between privacy and disciplinary investigations.
