Let’s save phone booth

In a recent post, I was expressing my regret at seeing phone booth gradually disappearing from urban landscapes. I evoked the payphone project that creates random contacts among strangers through phones boxes.

The last Ericsson “ON” magazine (pages 8 and 9) details other ongoing conversions of the phone boxes, such as the widespreading installation of free or paid per use wireless Internet, uWink, a company started by Nolan Bushnell, that designs video games and touchscreens entertainment for use in the booths.

But the article comes up with inspired and fanciful ideas “Super Silent Booth”, updatable tourist information points, confessional booths for the repentants or automatic teller machines.
