Junxion, a Seattle-based company, is working on Junxion Box, a device that should allow workers to have wireless access to data through the mobile phone infrastructure. Any number of cellular network PCMCIA cards can be plugged into the box, which then acts as a router over Ethernet or WiFi to any number of local machines. The result is a mobile workplace with a decent internet connection anywhere you can get a cellular signal.
