AudioCubes

Bert Schiettecatte‘s AudioCubes are intelligent battery-powered objects, capable of emitting light and autonomously processing sound in real-time.

Each cube contains a digital signal processor with optical sensors and emitters which receive and send audio signals generated or processed by the signal processor in the cube.

By positioning the cubes relative to each other and moving them around, a signal processing network can be created. A musician can use this interface to learn a new way of interacting with sound and music. Each of the objects can be reprogrammed and recharged over USB, using a computer.

The audiocubes interface has applications in image/video processing, education, and as a general intuitive interface for complex algorithms.
