Secom (the Japanese company behind the Smoking robot) is to launch on the market next April a robot able to lift and move the bedridden.
People can operate the Secomlift via a remote control and the robot will pick them up in a harness and move them to places such as wheelchairs or toilets.
Secomlift contains built-in sensors that ensure whoever is in the harness is also seated properly once the robot has finished carrying them. It also contains a safety switch that automatically halts operation if the person using the robot is not properly fitted in to the carrying harness.
