The public, at best, could not care less about RFID but more people simply do not like them at all.
Researchers at Philips want to make it more fun for the man-on-the-street, by putting an RFID reader in every mobile phone. Users could look at the content of a tag simply by holding their phone against it. Once the code is obtained, the mobile would search it on the web and display the information it has retrieved (comparison with other equivalent products in the same/other shops, ordering goods, etc.)
