Middlesbrough’s newest piece of public art, Spectra-txt is a 10-meters tall mirror tower covered with more than 1,000 fibre optic lights that change colour when sent one of six special text message commands from all over the world.

You can try it by texting one of the following commands to 07919 00 00 77 :
blue
starvibe xxx
pearl boro chromapop

Just two remarks:
1. it bears some similarities with the Hello World Project.
2. would be nicer to have a video filming the tower connected to a Website so that people “from all over the world” could actually check the changes they have just triggered on the artefact.
