Police departments use computers to catch criminals and log their arrests.

They are not the only ones, as prostitutes in Missouri are using technology to share information about undercover police officers.

Police had been following two women through message boards, e-mails and Web sites that these women used to screen clients and spread the word about their business.

On Aug. 4, officers raided a St. Louis hotel room used by two prostitutes. They two laptop computers, but also a Web site, listing the officers’ mobile phone numbers, undercover names and details about their cars. The mobile phone numbers were listed if they had been used to make appointments that led to arrests.

Only a prostitute with a secure log-in could get access to the Web page — and only someone with several working girls to vouch for her could get the log-in.
