UBERMORGEN, [V]ote-auction, 2000-2006 (Installation view, UBERMORGEN, THE*AGENCY [for manual Election Recounts] (Graz, 2004)

UBERMORGEN is an artist collective that brings together autistic actionist lizvlx a.k.a. Liz Haas & hyperactive visionary Lúzius Bernhard.

They have been Net.art pioneers and media hackers since 1995. In 2000, during the presidential race between George Bush and Al Gore, they gained an obscene amount of attention when they launched a platform that offered U.S. citizens the possibility to sell their vote to the highest bidder anonymously. Authorities repeatedly tried (and failed) to shut the website down.

Since then—and in no particular order—UBERMORGEN have compiled a collection of tracks from the ‘golden era of Torture Music”, made works inspired by the gigantic oil painting produced by oil and gas company BP in the Gulf of Mexico, shot an AI Horror Film, travelled to a Chinese Bitcoin generating factory as part of a research into digital economies, they looked into art washing and Russian military organisation Wagner Group, etc. They also notoriously devised a trilogy of conceptual hacks that subverted the functioning of e-commerce giants Amazon, eBay and Google.

I hope you enjoy the episode!
