Playschool mobile phones

In the UK, it is against the mobile operators’ formal code of conduct to market phones to the under 16s. But the fastest growing sector is the under nines – school kids. A research from Mobile Youth shows that 20% of primary school children own mobile phones and they predict that by 2006, a third of all five-to-nine year olds will own mobiles.

As the market for adults saturates, mobile operators are developing packages targeted at the young customers. Virgin recent TV advertisements feature teen idol Christina Aguilera, while Vodafone has signed Robbie Williams.
