Dutch firm Route 66 has ingeneered the first route finder service that relies on the increased power of mobile phones without any help from a personal computer or a mobile telecom network.

Detailed maps of countries and the navigation software are stored and used on a smartphone in a tiny memory card.

With the package, which includes a satellite positioning module, users can opt to get free traffic information.
