Swedish dairy giant Arla Foods will develop new sensory dairy packaging that can monitor its own shelf life if the company’s supervisory board agrees to decide on future spending and strategy.
Two years ago Arla Foods began promoting the idea of futuristic packaging for dairy produce, namely a milk carton, that could monitor the temperature of its contents and literally speak its shelf life to the consumer, using low-cost, disposable electronics and sensors.
