The 50cm tall HOAP-2 (Humanoid for Open Architecture Platform 2) was the star of the Asean Communications and Multimedia Expo and Forum (ACM 2004), going on this week in Malaysia.
The humanoid robot, developed last year by Fujitsu Automation, is equipped with sophisticated circuitry and sensors which ensure smooth motion and better stability, allowing it to simulate human movements such as when demonstrating the Sumo wrestling opening sequence.
OK, this robot is nothing new to you, but the idea that there’s a robot performing sumo somewhere on this planet really makes my day!
