(fly)light, by Pearl Chen, is an animated orb of green LEDS. Modular and lightweight, it was designed to hang from ceilings as an interior design accent and can be reconfigured into many different shapes. (fly)light only needs to be plugged in and it is ready to glow.
Handcrafted out of 500 LEDs and almost as many feet of wire, the process of its creation was blogged and made available for viewing and comment in early 2005.
The work can be seen until August 6, at the Pulse exhibition. Chen has constructed a D.I.Y. pamphlet for gallery-viewers to take with them in order to make their own (fly)light.
