Next spring, Hitachi-Omron Terminal Solutions will start selling ATMs equipped with a finger vein biometric identification system.
They are not the first, as this summer, a Japanese local bank had launched a biometrics-based deposit, for which palm vein patterns are examined to verify the identity of account holders (see Palm vein deposit account.) Similarly, Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi and other institutions have already decided to introduce Fujitsu Ltd.’s (6702) ATM, which features a palm vein identification system.
