The TIVIK project – Applying ICT to inform the food consumer
This Finnish project – to start in October 2004 – will give product information to consumers through interactive computing.
100 consumers, either on a weight-loss diet or lactose intolerant, will test the prototype system for three months.
The participants will go grocery shopping with a Nokia camera phones. After having taken a picture of the product’s barcode with the device, they will receive information about the product on the phone’s screen. The system allows the shopper to set-up a personal profile on a home computer or to pick up one of pre-programmed profiles set-up on the handset.
Potential uses of RFID technology are also on study.
