Designboom / Cow by NSR “teenage furniture” design competition. The results are out.
First prize is irresistible even if you’re not a teenager anymore. Rumble Seat houses a subwoofer, two mid-range speakers and four tweeters. It works on batteries or on AC power through a retractable power cord built into the bottom of the unit. I can perfectly imagine myself sitting on a Rumble Seat at conferences, my laptop plugged to the seat, blogging my boredom during a cryptic talk (by US designer James Owen.)
Le Figure: a big soft figure for hitting, sitting, loving, hating – furnishing. You can change the face on Le Figure: print out your idol, loved one or enemy on a transfer film and attach it to the removable velcro face. (by Måns Sjöstedt + Puia Shamsossadati from Sweden.)
My Room integrates an inflatable room, an air mattress and a storage bag into a mobile privacy cocoon. Teenagers can inflate their own private area wherever they are, then tuck it away in the storage bag (by Tom Jonckers from Belgium). Very much like the nomadic yooff, the emancipator bubble or even Martìn Ruiz de Azúa’s Basic House.
