Cheap PC from Bangalore

Developped in 2001 (the idea didn’t take off immediately because of lacks of investments) at the Institute of Science of Bangalore, the Simputer looks like a PDA, it can be connected to a keyboard but works with a pen, gives access to the web, enables e-mail correspondence and features basic computer functions (working on Linux).
In India 9 in 10,000 people own a PC and the Simputer was designed to give India’s poor a place in the internet era.
