BT launch mass market VoIP

Over 19m UK consumers who have a BT line will be able to manage all their home communications on their computers, calling free to another PC or making calls to a landline or mobile at the cost of a phone call thanks to BT and Yahoo! who have allied to launch a mass-market VoIP service.

BT Communicator integrated Yahoo! Messenger to handle phone calls, webcam, email, text and IM communications. The system can be downloaded from BT website.

The service is still in a beta-format. Multiway video calls are expected to be added in early 2005.
