25 photographers, designers, artists and musicians are to exhibit pictures taken on their mobile phones, for a show opening this week.
The mobile phone art has been dubbed Fonetography by Nokia, the exhibition’s sponsor.
Organisers said they wanted to see what some of the leading visual artists could do with camera phones.
Brit Art icon Tracy Emin –famous for her All the People I Have Ever Slept With tent– has submitted a snap of her own feet. Blur singer Albarn’s photo, entitled Loo, is a close-up of the singer in his own toilet.
Photographers David Bailey, Richard Young, Rankin and Nan Goldin have also contributed mobile snaps for the exhibition, as has artist Jeffrey Kroll and graffiti artist Banksy. Other phonetographers include photo journalist Nick Danziger, fashion designer Wayne Hemingway and art gallery owner Jay Jopling.
The exhibition runs from Wednesday until 27 November at the Association of Photographers’ gallery, in London. The photos will then be auctioned in aid of Mencap London.
