A solution for tracking VoIP 911 calls?

So far, emergency workers could not capture the numbers of callers from VoIP phones nor locate him. VoIP, Inc., has filed an application for a patent that may provide a solution.

Internet phoning let people make and get calls at the same phone number regardless of where they are in the world.

To add to the problem, most VoIP service providers don’t have a direct line to emergency call centers, using instead a circuitous route.

The Voip Inc. system is based on the number pattern dialed, it redirects the call to the legacy emergency telephony system, allowing the user to reach critical fire, police and other services from VoIP-enabled devices.

In addition, VoIP Inc. promises to increase the reliability of VoIP calls in case of a power failure–an event that can disable many existing VoIP phones.
