A belt with a tactile sense to show you the way

The ActiveBelt, made of a hardware, a GPS, a directional sensor, and a microcomputer allows you to intuitively obtain directional information only by activating vibrators, matching tactile information and direction in the real world.

This “human navigation system” helps you reach destinations only by walking toward the direction of vibration. You register a latitude and a longitude of the destination with a PC/PDA, then the ActiveBelt activates the specified vibrator based on your current position and orientation. The nearer you get to the destination, the shorter the pulse intervals of vibration.
