A few months ago, a political row blew up over government plans (announced in April) to solve Spain´s housing crisis by introducing State “mini-flats” measuring just 30 square metres. Many people in the country consider that 30sqm are definitely too tiny.
Probably inspired by the news, Santiago Cirugeda, architect of “Strategies for subversive occupation”, built the “Casa de pollo” (Chicken House), a 30 sq meter prototype in Barcelona a few weeks ago, during the EME3 festival. The house is made with recycled materials, can be built in one week only (the future dwellers are invited to take part in the construction to further lower the total cost of the house.)
