Hundreds of B-52 Stratofortress bombers are stored in the Arizona desert. These planes are preserved for spare parts. The B-52 was used during the Vietnam War and a modernized version during the Gulf War. The last models saw action during the 1999 bombardments in the Balkans and in Afghanistan in 2001. This war plane symbolizes the might of the world’s strongest military power, which has reasserted its dominance in this field as the world enters the 20th century.
