A flaw in the 802.11b Wi-Fi protocol has been detected by the Queensland University of Technology in Australia.
A hacker taking advantage of this vulnerability would be able to jam a whole network using a simple low-power signal PDA or notebook.
The experts precise that the vulnerability does not allow any interception or modification of the transfered datas, but can seriously damage the working of the network, denying users the access to online services.
As soon as the attack stops, the network returns to normal.
Devices that use 802.11a or high-speed 802.11g, above 20mbps, are not considered engangered.
