729 spheres are suspended on metal cables and controlled electronically. Each one moves independently, forming patterns or words, numbers and shapes fed in directly from the world’s media.

The Source will mark the start of the London markets every day at 8.00am, displaying an arrow to indicate whether the markets have opened up or down and giving the opening price of the FTSE 100 index.

It will also mark the closing of the markets at 4.30pm, again with a closing arrow and the end of day FTSE 100 price.
