Deathless, a gallery dedicated to stencilists and street artists in Mitte, is currently showing paintings and multilayered stencils by Boxi. I know nothing about him. All i’m sure of is that i stumbled upon one of his stencils while walking in Schlesisches Strasse a year ago. It’s the most graceful piece of streetart i’ve ever seen in Berlin. Yes, graceful, i guess it might sound odd. When i checked a while ago, the work had disappeared but a version of it is now adorning the wall outside the art gallery.
Press Release: Boxi’s latest work, “Buildings and bridges addresses the encroaching and often unpremeditated art of graffiti eradication in Berlin, highlighting the difficulties of exhibiting the internal outside and the external inside. Boxi’s installation forges a link between the poles of high art and the grey area of post graffiti, playfully commenting upon the state of exclusion of one from the other.
