electric moOns, by Christopher Bauder, Till Beckmann and Holger Pecht, consists of 10 x 10 helium balloons that form the pixels of a gigantic helium screen. The floating sculpture of balloons represent 3D digital data.
Each balloon is attached to a thin cable. The length of the cable and thus the floating height of every balloon can be adjusted stepless with a cable winch from 0-5 meters. The balloons are also lit from inside with dimmable superbright LEDs.
By controlling each balloons height and lighting independently from a computer a variety of arrangements, 3D patterns, geometrical shapes and animations can be achieved.
