Samsung is planning to eliminate toxic components of the computers, mobile phones and other devices it manufactures.
Everything started with “The Chemical Home“, a campaign by Greenpeace that tested everyday products that frequently contain harmful chemicals. The organization had tested (and incriminated) a series of products among which a TV and a mobile phone made by Samsung.
The manufacturer is now working on a phase out programme which sets dates to ban PVC, organotins and brominated flame retardants from its products. Toxic substances were found in mobile phone of other companies (Sony-Ericsson, Motorola, Panasonic, Siemens, Nokia) but Samsung is the first to take measures.
