SimpleTEXT is an audio/visual performance that focuses on the dynamic involvement of the audience through input from mobile devices. Participants submit messages which control the audiovisual output of the installation, first guiding how the music is created, and then rhythmically driving a speech synthesizer and a picture synthesizer to create a joint audiovisual performance.

SimpleTEXT, created by Family Filter, was originally funded by a commission from Low-Fi, an new media arts organization based in the UK.

The next SimpleTEXT performance will be held in Gent, Belgium, on the 13th of May in the framework of the 4-day Communnectivity workshop for interventions in the public city space of Gent.
