Moments of Grey, by Tasmanian artist and researcher Robin Petterd, are prototype responsive objects which evoke those found on a beach and recreate the physical experience of the aquatic environment.
When you pick the objects up, stroke and play with them, they respond by glowing and playing sounds of water and the beach environment.
Each object contains a stamp single chip computer, sound chips, leds, light sensors and an accelerometer.
I will always prefer the shell my grandmother gave me to “listen to the sound of the sea”. Sometimes technology is less magical than simple objects.
