EarthCam Inc – whose Earthcam.com Web site lets users view live footage from thousands of cameras around the world – has just created EarthCam Mobile, a service that allows people to broadcast live video for others to view on Web-enabled cell phones. The point is to let people see footage from their home security cameras, nanny-cams and other webcams registering traffic conditions or the weather without having to be desk-bound.

Users have to download a special software on a computer linked to the camera: the fooage collected by the webcam can then be transmitted in real time to any compatible mobile phone.

Users can opt between making the footage public or sharing it with selected friends.
