A team of facial perception experts from St Andrews University found that subtle manipulation of images put out into the public domain could improve the perception of a person. For example, rival political parties could manipulate the images of opposing leaders to make them appear less trustworthy, healthy or intelligent.
An exhibition called Should we judge a book by its cover? at the Royal Society in London, is demonstrating how images of faces and recordings of voices can be manipulated using sophisticated computer technology.
