Joanneke Meester‘s eerie portraits…
and tortured dolls.
(via Happy Famous Artists.)
Two years ago, Meester had fashioned tiny replica pistol with a piece of skin to protest against violence in society. The skin was surgically removed from her abdomen, then stretched and sewn over a plastic and fibre pistol mould. (via Neural)
Joanneke Meester‘s work is part of Fantasy Island – Exhibition Robinson, a collective exhibition that runs until 18 Jun 2006 at the MAMA Showroom for Media and Moving Art, in Rotterdam.
Other works in the exhibition include Showichi Kaneda’s shark vehicles, Sylvia B.’s hairy creatures, and Koekoeksklub, several robotic cuckooclocks hacked by Rob Donkers to create a concert with visual effects. Each clock has its own character, but reacts according to the “behaviour” of the other clocks.
