Six Apart -the company behind Movable Type and TypePad platforms- bought French blog software firm Ublog last week.
Now, Swiss blogger Stéphanie Booth, rightly concerned about the fact that there is more to the Ublog story than what the English-speaking blogosphere is getting, is causing quite a stir.
She reports that some French bloggers are angry at the takeover of their native blogging platform Ublog by SixApart:
First, U-bloggers have been promised features for their pay-version, and it seems that they will not come.
Besides, the acquisition by Six Apart seems to point to a near death of the Ublog platform, and more dramatically for its users, of the very strong community built around it. (Typepad doesn’t really have this “community” thing to it.)
More amusingly, she lists a series of discrepancies in attitude between Loïc Le Meur’s discourse on his own weblog and his comments on other people’s blogs.
Loic Le Meur answered the post tactfully in english on his blog and promised he will write a longer note on the subject.
Let’s wait and read!
