US technology company 3M is developing RFID chips built on glass or plastic surfaces, they would be cheaper alternatives to those made from silicon (around 20 cents each) and could be integrated into shampoo bottles, soup cans, and other products, which would allow suppliers and retailers to better identify and track goods.
