In Kamp, by Dutch theatre company Hotel Modern, a huge model of Auschwitz fills the stage, complete with overcrowded barracks, a railway track, an “Arbeit Macht Frei” gateway, barbed wire, and thousands of 3″ tall handmade puppets. The actors move through the set like giant war reporters, filming the horrific events with miniature cameras; the audience becomes the witness.
