I discovered the work of PROJEKT 0047 while i was covering DesignMai in Berlin a few months ago. Their Social design for Scandinavian towns project demonstrates how art and architecture can play an important role in social development of small towns. This week, in collaboration with Norsk Form, Martin Braathen and Elisabeth Byre of PROJEKT 0047 are setting up a new exhibition in Oslo.
Industry! Contemporary Meetings between Architecture and Industry investigates the interplay between architecture and industry, with a special focus on how knowledge can be transferred between the fields. Three offices (Barkow Leibinger Architects, dRMM and Helen & Hard) have been invited to create architectural installations that show how the relationship between architecture and industry has changed since the strong industrial influence on early modernist architecture.
Barkow Leibinger Architects from Berlin will present the model of an impressive roof webbing they are building for the campus restaurant of a factory in Ditzingen (near Stuttgart). Hovering 2 meters above the gallery floor, the roof cells will serve as exhibition panels.
The structural honeycombing will be the primary exhibition element. Conceived as a suspended topography, the installation can be experienced from below or above from the mezzanine level.
Industry! opens at DogA Norwegian Centre for Design and Architecture in Oslo, on Aug 10th at 19h. Runs until September 24.
Martin Braathen has been kind enough to send me images of the preparation of the show.
