The German island of Sylt will be able to control which of its 3.000 beach seats are free thanks to an innovative system.
A chip under the deckchair will communicate to one of the 16 laptops carried by the beach controllers the availability of the seat. Tourists can pay cash or with credit card. In 2005, they will also be able to book their prefered seat on Internet.
