Teleoperated robotic arm

Massey University (New Zealand) engineering graduate Tim Brooks has developed a teleoperated robotic arm and control system that enables his own movement to be translated in exact replication by the robotic arm. A micro-controller translates his movements into digital data. Then a computer uses this information to drive the robotic arm.

The engineer hopes his work could be applied to denonate bombs or to work in environment hostile to humans, such as inside nuclear reactors or under the sea. Delicate surgery is another application.
