Two years ago, Fuji, a female dolphin held at Japan’s largest aquarium in the southern island of Okinawa, lost 75% of her tail due to a mysterious disease. But now she can jump again thanks to an artificial rubber fin, developed by tire manufacturer Bridgestone Corp.
Bridgestone gave the artificial fin for free, but that it cost the company about some $123,183. However, they are open to requests for an artificial fin or leg for other creatures.
