Up to this year, visitors of the “FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ’04,” an open-air rock music festival in Japan, were handed an admission wristband in exchange for a ticket and visually checked by staff members. But last week-end, Softbank’s RFID system was incorporated in the wristband to count the attendees in real time without making visual inspections and to enable the blocking of unauthorized people.
With RFID readers installed at the entrance and exit gates, some desktop readers, and PDA-type readers, a management server verified readout data against the registered information.
