Outerspace

People doing strange things with electricity (II)
Still at Dorkbot, I finally got to see Andre Stubbe and Markus Lerner´s Outerspace, a cute little robot arm that, once it gets used to you, behaves a bit like a pet.

home_sneak.jpgThe movements of Outerspace are based on its curiosity in exploring the surrounding space. It looks for light, motion, finally contact. As he finds something interesting, this again increases its curiosity, to find out even more. The same thing happens in the mind of the observer, when he approaches the object.

Once again, we felt those awkward feeling we had in front of Spatial Sounds. The machine has nothing human or dog-like. Yet, you get to feel some tenderness for it.
