Rodentia Chamber Music

Gail Wight‘s Rodentia Chamber Music is a small ensemble of five transparent chamber instruments. They are inhabited by mice, who “play” them during performances by triggering small electronic whisker switches positioned within the instruments. The performance is recorded and the film replayed throughout the exhibition.

In association with Kristina Treanor, PhD candidate in Microbiology and Immunology at Stanford University, this ensemble suggests another way of coexisting with these creatures, working with them as collaborators themselves.

The film can be seen till January 9, 2005 at the Cornerhouse, Manchester (UK).
