Walking online

I had read about the SEVEN MILE BOOTS, a pair of interactive shoes with audio allowing their wearer to wander through virtual space, created by Laura Beloff with the help of Erich Berger and Martin Pichlmair.
Good news for me is that they will be part of the Ars Electronica festival!

The boots have two different modes: when walking, the wearer strolls through the net, when standing still he/she can listen to several chat rooms simultaneously.

When the user walks around s/he can locate a chat activity through audio. S/he can decide to stop for closer observation. The boots automatically log into the chat rooms under the name of “sevenmileboots”.

The boots contain a computer with wireless network, microprocessor, sensors, amplifiers and loudspeakers. The boots are ready to function in any location with an open wireless network.
