Sensorama

«Sensorama», invented by Morton Heilig in 1962, offered multi-sensorial impressions of a ten-minute-long motorcycle ride through New York. Viewers paid 25 cents, sat on a movable stool and popped their head inside a booth to simultaneously experience the corresponding vibrations, head movements, sounds, and rushes of wind.

Unable to commercialize his prototype for a cinema of the future, Heilig declared that «The Sensorama may have been too revolutionary for its time.»
